A electrocardiogram is a procedure used used to detect irregular heart beats (Arrhythmia). An ECG machine records the electrical impulses of the heart through small metal electrodes that are stuck to your arms legs and chest. The machine detects and records these impulses on paper. The ECG reading is interpreted by the physician; this helps him make an accurate assessment of the condition of the heart.
